Subnautica 2 Resource Map: All Biome Clusters

Every confirmed Subnautica 2 resource organized by biome, from shallow ore fields to the Karakorum Metal Farms cavern, with a full comparison table.

Resources in Subnautica 2 follow a clear depth pattern: common ores like Titanium, Copper, and Quartz show up in nearly every biome from the Shallows down, specialty materials tied to specific creatures or terrain start clustering around mid-depth regions, and a handful of scarcity-gated materials exist in exactly one place in the entire game. This page is the cross-biome view — a single table showing which resources live in which biome, so you can plan a run by region instead of hunting one item at a time. For step-by-step routes to specific items, the resources guide already covers Silver, Strong Acid, Titanium Ingot, and more in detail; this page is the map that sits above those routes.

How to plan a resource run

  1. Stockpile common ores shallow first. Titanium, Copper, and Quartz are available in nearly every biome down to the Shallows, so there is no reason to risk a deep trip for materials you can gather safely near the Lifepod.
  2. Batch one specialty material per deep trip. Once you are past 250–300 m, treat each dive as a single-purpose run — go for Celestine, or Atacamite, or Axum, not all three, since backtracking through a hostile biome wastes the safety window a clean descent buys you.
  3. Check the equipment list before committing to a depth band. A Depth Module is the gate on nearly every material past 250 m, and there is no substitute for it.
  4. Treat Karakorum Metal Farms as a special case. It holds Axum Bacterial Culture — only five exist in the world with zero respawn — so plan that trip in isolation with the Axum Bacterial Culture guide open, not as a stop on a general resource loop.
  5. Cross-reference the interactive map and biome database before you leave base, so the route between clusters is planned rather than improvised.

Necrolei Cyst is a special mid-cluster case: it is not used raw, it processes into Strong Acid — the resources guide covers the exact Processor route. Karakorum Metal Farms also got a Troilite expansion in Hotfix 2 (May 22), so if your route notes predate that patch, more Troilite ground is now available there than the original launch layout — see the Mangalloy and Metal Farms guide for how that material fits into the crafting chain.

What the raw ores turn into

A few of these clusters only matter because of what they feed into further up the crafting chain:

FAQ

Where do I find the most resources early? The Shallows biome (0–224 m) has the widest spread of common resources — Titanium, Copper, Quartz, and several creature-drop materials — all reachable without a Depth Module. It is the correct place to stockpile before pushing deeper.

What’s the rarest resource in Subnautica 2? Axum Bacterial Culture, found only in the Karakorum Metal Farms cavern. There are five in the entire world and none of them respawn, which caps how many Metal Farms you can ever build — see the Axum Bacterial Culture guide for the full harvest route.

Do resources respawn? Common ores like Titanium, Copper, and Quartz behave like standard node resources across most biomes. Scarcity-gated materials like Axum Bacterial Culture do not respawn at all — check the patch notes for any changes to respawn behavior after each update.

Which biome has the highest risk-to-reward resource run? Karakorum Metal Farms and Root Canyon both carry Collector Leviathan patrol risk in exchange for their unique materials. The Collector Leviathan guide covers the safe depth band for both.
