Player Demand

What players are asking after launch

These answers combine Google Suggest, Reddit discussion and creator coverage from May 15-19. Community signals help prioritize pages; they do not create official promises.

Roadmap dates

Signal: Google Suggest, Reddit comments and media recaps keep asking whether EA 1.1 and EA 1.2 are weeks or months away.

Answer: Unknown Worlds has not published patch dates. The official wording points to plans over the next few months, but the useful answer is still sequence, not calendar: EA 1.1 first, EA 1.2 second, larger world expansion later.

Sprint and storage

Signal: Movement speed and inventory friction show up in Roadmap discussion because early exploration is slow and resource-heavy.

Answer: Sprint and Storage Cache are official EA 1.1 additions. Treat them as planned improvements, not live features until patch notes land.

Voice chat, trading and revive

Signal: Co-op players want to know whether four-player exploration will get better tools than external Discord and manual item drops.

Answer: Voice Chat, Player Trading and Player Revive are official EA 1.2 planned additions. Current co-op groups should still plan roles and shared storage manually.

Map size and future biomes

Signal: Searches include map size, map vs 1, map interactive and map so far. Reddit map comparison posts are active.

Answer: Future biomes are official roadmap direction, but current Early Access boundaries remain current-build boundaries. Do not read future expansion as today's playable map size.

Immortal fish / creature interaction

Signal: A high-discussion Reddit thread argues that non-lethal or limited creature interaction hurts immersion for some players.

Answer: This is a community concern, not an official feature promise. Track it as feedback, especially because EA 1.1 already mentions Blight Encounters and future updates mention new creatures.

Buying now vs waiting

Signal: Review videos and Reddit replies split between strong Early Access enthusiasm and players who want a finished story.

Answer: Play now for co-op exploration and launch-build discovery. Wait if you mainly want complete story chapters, mature balance, and the expanded world.

Save compatibility

Signal: May 18-19 Reddit questions are asking whether future Early Access updates will keep current saves usable.

Answer: Unknown Worlds has not promised that every Early Access save will survive every future update unchanged. Back up saves before major patches and expect some bases, routes or progression assumptions to need adjustment.

How we decide what to publish

Steam snapshot

Launch sentiment is strong, but the numbers move fast

At the May 19 source check, Steam showed English reviews as Very Positive, with 93% positive across 37,105 English user reviews. Because these counts change daily, we use them as launch context, not permanent ranking claims.

FAQ

Roadmap quick answers

Does the Subnautica 2 roadmap have dates?

No. The official May 15 roadmap gives an order of updates and describes plans over the next few months, but it does not publish exact dates for EA 1.1, EA 1.2 or the larger future expansions.

Is sprint live in Subnautica 2 now?

Sprint is listed as a planned EA 1.1 addition. Treat it as upcoming until official patch notes say the update is live.

Will Subnautica 2 get new biomes and vehicles?

Yes, the official roadmap lists new biomes, new creatures, new resources, new tools, a new vehicle and the next story chapter under future major expansion updates.

Should the map page add future biomes now?

No. Future roadmap items should be tracked as upcoming content, while the map keeps current Early Access routes and boundaries separate.

Will future updates break current saves?

Unknown Worlds has not promised perfect save compatibility for every Early Access update. Back up saves before major patches and treat current bases or routes as active-development progress.
