Day-One FAQ

Before you dive - 4 fast answers

The questions every player is asking at launch. Sourced from official Unknown Worlds posts, the Steam page, Reddit map threads and recent video updates (last sweep: May 14, 2026).

Will Subnautica 2 launch on PS4 / PS5 / Switch?

Early Access is PC (Steam, Epic) and Xbox Series X|S only. PS5 and Switch 2 are not announced for the EA window. PS4 / Switch 1 are not on the roadmap.

Is 4-player co-op available on Day 1?

Yes. Steam lists online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, and Unknown Worlds describes Subnautica 2 as playable solo or with friends in 4-player co-op.

How long will Early Access last?

Unknown Worlds now says Early Access is expected to last about 2-3 years, with updates adding more biomes, creatures, craftables, features and narrative content.

Will my Early Access save carry to 1.0?

The studio has not promised permanent save compatibility for every update. Treat Early Access saves as active-development saves and back them up before major patches.
